Stuff for supervisors

Graduation manuals

You need to use the manual of the academic year when the student started their thesis.

What if I can’t be there at one A?

Read p.21 of the Graduation guide 2025-2026 (or equivalent for other years).

What you have to do for each A

A0 (Preparation)

  • Make sure your students submit their case before the registration deadline, which should be at the end of week 2.
  • Approve the supervisory team of your students before the end of week 4.
  • Schedule the A1 date in SuperSaaS before the before the end of week 4.

A1 (Kick-off)

  • Both supervisors must read the proposal, attend the A1 meeting and ask questions.
  • Both supervisors jointly decide if it’s a go (continue to Midterm) or no-go (retake).
  • The 1st supervisor must put in the system the final result of the A1.
    • If it’s a go (continue to Midterm), both supervisors, student, co-reader (if known) and delegate should decide on A3 and A4 dates from the slots available in SuperSaaS and enter them in the system.
    • If it’s a no/go (retake), the same but for a new A1 date in the next period.

A2 (Midterm)

  • Between A1 and A3, there should one meeting with both supervisors to discuss the progress of the student.
  • Feedback must be given with tips to improve.
  • After the student has uploaded a document in MyCase (eg updated proposal, thesis as it stands or the slides used for a A2 presentation), the 1st supervisor must mark the A2 as done in the system by selecting Continue to Green Light phase. If this is not done, BK admin won’t schedule the A3. If you feel the work is not sufficient for the midterm yet, you can select the Continue in Midterm option, but this also means that the A3 meeting might not be scheduled.
  • If not done already, together with the student choose a co-reader.

A3 (Green light)

  • The 1st supervisor has to assess if the work is original, and thus you need to go to the Brightspace Plagiarism Scan and check the report.
  • Both supervisors and the co-reader must read the final thesis, attend the A3 meeting and ask questions.
    • If it’s a go (continue to Finalisation), both supervisors should also decide the preliminary mark of the student with the rubric. Note that the final mark at the A4 might only be within 0.5 points of the preliminary one. Note also that whether the student is cum laude is decided based on this mark, not on the final one. The 1st supervisor must put in the system the result of the A3.
    • If it’s a no-go (retake), both supervisors, co-reader, student and delegate should decide on new A3 and A4 dates from the slots available in SuperSaaS and enter them in the system.

A4 (Finalisation)

  • Both supervisors must attend the A4 meeting and ask questions.
  • Both supervisors decide the final mark of the student.
  • The 1st supervisor makes a speech in front of family and friends. Smile a lot while doing this.
  • The 1st supervisor must put the final grade in the system.
